Thanks for meeting with me Michael, before you go, just tap my card with your phone to download my contact information …
Nope, that is not science fiction, that technology is here now. The paper business card has been getting closer to being obsolete for several years now. But now the alternative is here, and it is super chic just because of its newness and rarity.
An NFC business card uses the same technology found in Apple Pay and Google Pay, but instead of paying for a transaction, you are passing off your contact information to a client or prospective client. The beauty of this technology is that there is no app to open or camera to find to scan a QR code, the receiver simply taps your card and hits “yes” to add your information to their contact list. Super simple, and super cool.
Most NFC cards are more substantial than plastic business cards, more like debit cards. Some NFC business card distributors require you to create a subscription for using their software to add to your card, while some like TapTag are a one-time purchase. You supply the NFC business card distributors with the information that you want to have on your card and they install it on the card and ship it to you. You can have contact information, the URL of a website, artwork, and music, the are multiple uses for this technology. Of course the card itself can have the look of an attractive business card, that sometimes includes a QR code in case your receiver does not have NFC technology on their phone.
We have the technology…

But the matte black or white steel cards are impressive too.
